The border of the Valley with Wilson Avenue is hedged. Some of this hedge has been “layed”. Hedgelaying is an ancient method of thickening up a hedge to make a “fence” - originally to secure stock animals. Such hedges are much favoured by birds and other wild life, so will help build up the Sheepcote environment. FSV have done a bit of “laying”, and we have been fortunate to attract help from some “competition hedgelayers” and British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV). On this occasion we will tidy up the previous hedgelaying and look at further areas to be worked on (hopefully!).
